If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance     because these hotels fill up quick. The campgrounds here at Grays River are pretty good. The beautiful scenery of Wahkiakum County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. The river winds through the Olympic Mountains and you get great scenery. This is the only paddling section along Grays River. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: The high level of rainfall makes Grays River a reasonably wet location; the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain while July is ordinarily the driest month. Summer brings highs in the 60's to Grays River. During the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 50's.
