The beautiful scenery of Washington and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This stretch of Grays River in Wahkiakum County is 5.2 miles long and has been rated as a class IV+ section by American Whitewater. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. No matter if you're     whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is the only paddling stretch along Grays River. The beautiful Olympic Mountains scenery is an added bonus. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Briefly about the general area: Throughout the summer at Grays River highs are typically in the 60's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 40's, and overnight lows through the winter for Grays River tend to be in the 30's.
