The Green River Gorge section of Green River in Washington is 5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The put-in is not too far from Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon
trip. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Green River Gorge section is just one of many. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time
in nature are great reasons to come. The river winds through the Northern Cascade Range and you get great scenery. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The nature scenery of Washington and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Green River regularly tend to be in the 70's. All through the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 50's. The cold days of
the winter come with highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Green River fall into the 30's. Green River gets a large amount of water; the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain, and July is the month with the least moisture.
