Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. The beautiful scenery of Washington and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The FR 7030 Bridge to Highway 410 stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. This section
is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch of Greenwater River in Pierce/King
County is 7.2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II(IV) section. The beauty of the Northern Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here.
Briefly about the general area: Greenwater River frequently gets a lot of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is generally November, that's the one that rains the most; July is when it's the driest. Go for a hike on the Divide Trail, and nice hiking is available along the Lester
Trail. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors cool stuff the Northern Cascade Range has to offer. All through the days of summer, highs generally are in the 70's at Greenwater River. Summer night lows sink down to the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's with temperatures at Greenwater River dipping down into the 30's through winter nights.
