The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. This section of Hamma Hamma River is 3.5 miles long and is a class V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Mason County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over
and over. There's camping available near Hamma Hamma River. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this
area has a large number of paddling rivers. The beautiful Olympic Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The starting point is not too far from Shelton, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Boulder Creek to Hamma Hamma Campground section is one of them. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here.

River; the night is a little chillier of course, typically in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's while the cold winter nights at Hamma Hamma River are in the 30's. Hamma Hamma River gets very little rain; December is the month that gets the most rain, and July on the other hand is the driest.
