Mason
county,
Boulder Creek to Hamma Hamma Campground section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS V+ 3.5 miles
It was very very good fast, and calm at the same time. It was a very nice white water river, good fish. Says Jim Pratt
The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Shelton, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The beautiful scenery of Washington and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you
come because it is a very popular destination. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. There are campgrounds quite near
the river where you can camp. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. The Boulder Creek to Hamma Hamma Campground section of Hamma Hamma River is 3.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V+ section. Whitewater paddling here in the Olympic Mountains is a great experience. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well.
