The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often tougher than in other states, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. You might have to     settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. This stretch of Hamma Hamma River is 3.5 miles long and has been rated as a class V+ section by American Whitewater. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. The wild scenery of the Olympic Mountains is great. Briefly about the general area: Hamma Hamma River gets very little rainfall; December is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months is July. Throughout the summer months here at Hamma Hamma River, high temperatures   generally get into the 60's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. All through the winter highs are frequently in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Hamma Hamma River temperatures sink to the 30's.
