CLASS V+ 3.5 miles
It was very very good fast, and calm at the same time. It was a very nice white water river, good fish. Says Jim Pratt
The Boulder Creek to Hamma Hamma Campground stretch of Hamma Hamma River is 3.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V+ section. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often more challenging than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large
number of paddling rivers. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. If you're coming from Shelton it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This is a pretty short section
so no need to bring snacks. The Olympic Mountains scenery is wonderful. The beautiful scenery of Mason County and the water flowing gracefully down Hamma Hamma River attract people from near and far. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Boulder Creek to Hamma Hamma Campground section is one of them. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more.
