The Hamma Hamma Campground to gorge stretch of Hamma Hamma River in Mason County is 5 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. The beauty of the Olympic Mountains is a great plus for this river. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so keep in mind that the rivers     in this state are less manageable. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The wonderful Washington scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Hamma Hamma River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip.
