The natural beauty of Washington and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. The Upper stretch of Hangman Creek is 10 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III+(IV) section of whitewater. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling rivers. This stretch has enough mileage
for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Spokane, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short
distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners.
Briefly about the general area: Hangman Creek is frequently a relatively dried out location; December is the wettest month with most snow; July is when it's the driest. Summer at Hangman Creek arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows plunge down to the
50's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 30's with temperatures at Hangman Creek dipping down into the 20's throughout winter nights.
