This stretch of Hoh River is 20 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. The nature scenery of Washington and the water flowing gracefully down Hoh River have people coming here. There's camping available
near Hoh River. The river winds through the Olympic Mountains and you get great scenery. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. There
are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Ranger Station to Highway 101 at Oxbow stretch is one of them. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Port Angeles, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
Briefly about the general area: For the duration of the warmest time of the year highs here at Hoh River get into the 70's. Through the moonlight hours it's typically in
the 40's. For the duration of the winter highs are generally in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Hoh River. There's no way someone can get bored here in the Olympic Mountains. Hoh River is a wet spot that gets a good deal of rain; during the month of
November you get the most rain around here; July is the month with the least moisture. Going for a hike along the Bogachiel-Hoh Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area; if you're here you can take a hike along the Bogachiel Trail.
