The starting location is a reasonable drive from Port Angeles, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This section of Hoh River - South Fork is 2.7 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington are harder than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The beauty of the Olympic Mountains is a great plus for this river. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking
in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations
you might end up sleeping in your car. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The scenic beauty of Jefferson County and the water flowing gracefully down Hoh River - South Fork attract people from near and far. This is a somewhat short section so no need to bring snacks. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too.
Briefly about the general area: During the warm days of summer at Hoh River - South Fork highs are ordinarily in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 40's. For
the duration of the wintertime highs are regularly in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Hoh River - South Fork. The high level of precipitation makes Hoh River - South Fork a quite wet location; November is when you get the most rain here; July meanwhile is the driest month.
