The FR 29 030 spur to South Fork Calawah confluence section of Hyas Creek in Washington is 1.5 miles long and is a class II-III(IV) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Clallam County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you're coming from Port Angeles it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. This stretch is short so better
bring some good walking shoes. The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. The river winds through the Olympic Mountains
and you get great scenery. There are no other sections to paddle along Hyas Creek than the FR 29 030 spur to South Fork Calawah confluence section. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.

Through the winter highs are in the 40's, and night lows through the winter for Hyas Creek tend to be in the 30's. The high level of rain makes Hyas Creek a relatively wet place; through the month of November you get the most rain around here, and July is when it's the driest.
