Washington whitewater - Illabot Creek, Northern Cascade Range, Skagit County Skagit county, to Rockport-Cascade Road section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS V     5 miles   This stretch of Illabot Creek in Washington is 5 miles long and has been rated as a class V section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The scenic beauty of Skagit County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you     come because it is a very popular destination. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The to Rockport-Cascade Road section is the only paddling section along Illabot Creek. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Illabot Creek through the months of summer are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. During the winter highs are ordinarily in the 40's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Illabot   Creek sink into the 30's. Lots of rainfall falls at Illabot Creek; November is the wettest month with most rain, and July is the month with the least moisture.
