This section of Jackman River in Skagit County is 5 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The river winds through the Northern Cascade Range and you get great scenery. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. The nature scenery of Skagit County and the beautiful way the
water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. This is the only paddling stretch along Jackman River. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable
for beginners. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here.
Briefly about the general area: Throughout the days of summer at Jackman River temperatures are commonly in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 40's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Jackman River. All the water falling down from the sky makes Jackman River a wet place; November is the wettest month with most rain; July is the month with the least moisture.
