The starting point is not too far from Shelton, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. This stretch of Jefferson Creek is 2.1 miles     long and is according to American Whitewater a class V section of whitewater. This stretch is short so better bring some good walking shoes. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The Olympic Mountains scenery is wonderful. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. This is the only paddling section along Jefferson Creek. Briefly about the general area: Jefferson Creek gets much water; all through December this area sees the most rain, and July is when it's the driest. Not far from Jefferson Creek you can enjoy the trees of Hood Canal Ranger District. During   the summertime months at Jefferson Creek temperatures are frequently in the 70's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's, and overnight lows in the 30's for Jefferson Creek.
