Mason
county,
Elk Lake to Hamma Hamma section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS V 2.1 miles
The starting location is a short drive from Shelton, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The wonderful Washington scenery and the playfulness of the water beats anything. The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so better not forget that many runs in this state are not easy. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Great exercise and just being out on the river
for a while have people coming from far and near. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Whitewater paddling here in the Olympic Mountains is a great experience. Jefferson Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Elk Lake to Hamma Hamma
stretch is the only one. This stretch is short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. This section of Jefferson Creek is 2.1 miles long and it is classified as a class V section by American Whitewater.
