If you're coming from Mount Vernon-Anacortes it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The Naval Station to South Fork Stillaguamish section of Jim Creek in Snohomish County is 7 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. Getting
some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. The campgrounds here at Jim Creek are pretty good. The scenic beauty of Washington and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. The river winds through the Northern
Cascade Range and you get great scenery. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. The Naval Station to South Fork Stillaguamish stretch is the only paddling stretch along Jim Creek.
