The wonderful Washington scenery and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The starting location is a short drive from City of The Dalles, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Leidl Campground to Klickitat Springs stretch of Klickitat River is 16.2 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beauty of the Northern Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you
come because it is a very popular destination. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good spots for that around here. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The campgrounds here
at Klickitat River are pretty good. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too.

place; the month of December is the wettest with most of the snow, and July on the other hand is the driest. Through the long summer days here at Klickitat River, high temperatures generally get into the 80's with overnight lows in the 40's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 30's; night lows at Klickitat River through the winter regularly sink into the 20's.
