CLASS II 16.2 miles
This stretch of Klickitat River is 16.2 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The natural beauty of Klickitat County and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. The river winds through the Northern Cascade Range and you get great scenery. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. You can enjoy this stretch more
if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. There are campgrounds
quite near the river where you can camp. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The starting location is a short drive from City of The Dalles, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page.
Briefly about the general area: The warmest time of the year at Klickitat River comes with high temperatures in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 40's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 30's, and after
the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Klickitat River sink into the 20's. The high level of precipitation makes Klickitat River a relatively wet spot; the month of December is the wettest with most of the snow; July meanwhile is the driest month. Yeah,
come up here to the Northern Cascade Range for a delightful time. The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Pennington Spring. Near Klickitat River you find Beeks Canyon which is a splendid site to stop at, and Camp Five Spring is an inspiring location to have a look at while here.
