CLASS II-III 10.5 miles
This stretch of Klickitat River in Washington is 10.5 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Washington and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often tougher than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter,
so pack your camping stuff. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The wild scenery of the Northern Cascade Range is great. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations
you might end up sleeping in your car. The starting location is a reasonable drive from City of The Dalles, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that.
