  This section of Klickitat River in Washington is 1 miles long and is a class V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The starting location is a short drive from City of The Dalles, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. This
    is a very short stretch so no need to bring snacks. The campgrounds here at Klickitat River are pretty good. The nature scenery of Washington and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit
to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Fishing Access on Highway 142 to Columbia River section is just one of many. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here.

Briefly about the general area:
For the duration of the warmest time of the
 
year highs here at Klickitat River get into the 70's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's; all through the dark hours in the winter at Klickitat River temperatures drop to the 20's. Near Klickitat River you discover Mud Spring Canyon which is a fine location to take a look at, and taking a little journey to close by Indian Point is a wonderful idea.
The amount of rain that falls at Klickitat River is close to the national average; the month of December is the wettest with most of the snow, and July on the other hand is the driest. Man, is there a heap of enjoyable stuff to do in the Northern Cascade Range. Martin Spring is an inspiring place to have a look at during your stay.
