This stretch of Klickitat River in Klickitat County is 1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V+ section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There's camping
available near Klickitat River. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The beautiful scenery of Washington and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. The starting point is
not too far from City of The Dalles, as you can see on the road map further down. The river winds through the Northern Cascade Range and you get great scenery. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Fishing Access on Highway 142 to Columbia River stretch is just one of them. This is an extremely short stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch.
Briefly about the general area: Throughout the months of summer at Klickitat River highs are usually in the 70's, and the nighttime is a little
chillier of course, ordinarily in the 40's. Highs throughout the winter are commonly in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Klickitat River are in the 20's. Klickitat River gets a common amount of annual rainfall; December is when you get the most snow here; July is when it's
the driest. These mountains rock, just check out all the exciting stuff to do in the Northern Cascade Range. Mud Spring Canyon is a great place to explore. While you're here at Klickitat River you must visit Indian Point; a visit to Klickitat River wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Martin Spring.
