This section of Klickitat River in Washington is 1 miles long and is a class V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The starting location is a short drive from City of The Dalles, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. is a very short stretch so no need to bring snacks. The campgrounds here at Klickitat River are pretty good. The nature scenery of Washington and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit
to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Fishing Access on Highway 142 to Columbia River section is just one of many. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here.
