Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often tougher than elsewhere, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The put-in location is a short drive from City of The Dalles, if     you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. This section of Little Klickitat River is 9.7 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. There are no other sections to paddle along Little Klickitat River than the Olsen Road to Klickitat River section. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. The Northern Cascade Range scenery is wonderful. Briefly about the general area: At Little Klickitat River throughout the warmest time of the year highs are in the 70's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the   30's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Little Klickitat River plunge into the 20's. From a rainfall point of view Little Klickitat River is a pretty common site; through the month of December you get the most snow around here, and July is when it's the driest.
