The Winston Creek to Alder Lake section of Little Nisqually River is 5.7 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV+ section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. The Winston Creek to Alder Lake section is the only paddling section along Little Nisqually River. or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The beautiful scenery of Washington and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. You might have to settle for a hotel
a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The Northern Cascade Range scenery is wonderful.
