The Winston Creek to Alder Lake stretch of Little Nisqually River in Lewis County is 5.7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV+ section of whitewater. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch is mid length, suitable for
an afternoon trip. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has
a large number of paddling rivers. This is the only paddling stretch along Little Nisqually River. The natural beauty of Washington and the water flowing gracefully down Little Nisqually River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too.
Briefly about the general area: The high level of rain makes Little Nisqually River a reasonably wet place; December is when you get the most rain here, and the driest of the months
is July. Summertime at Little Nisqually River comes with high temperatures in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and night lows at Little Nisqually River through the wintertime typically dip into the 30's.
