The to Lyre River Campground stretch of Lyre River is 3 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. The to Lyre River Campground stretch is the only paddling stretch along Lyre River. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often more challenging than in other states, so keep in mind that
rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. This stretch is short so no need to bring snacks. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The starting point is not too far from Port Angeles, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page.
Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whitewater paddling here in the Olympic Mountains is a great experience.

For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 40's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 40's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Lyre River.
