The put-in location is a short drive from Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch of Mashel River in Washington is 7.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-IV section. Mashel River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Eatonville to Nisqually River confluence section is the only one. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking,
either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. The campgrounds here at Mashel River are pretty good. The beautiful scenery of Pierce County and the water flowing gracefully down Mashel River attract people from near and far. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Cascade Range is a great experience.

you stumble on Point Ohop; Little Mashel Falls is a scenic site to visit while you're at Mashel River. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Mashel River. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. For the duration of the winter the
highs are typically in the 40's with temperatures at Mashel River dipping down into the 30's during winter nights. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining things in the Northern Cascade Range. While staying at Mashel River you could always explore Kirkland Pass. The
