Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The wonderful Washington scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The put-in location is a short drive from Port Angeles, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Bridge section of Matheny Creek in Washington is 4.2 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. There's camping available near Matheny Creek. The river winds through the Olympic Mountains and you get great scenery. The nearby hotels are a
bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that.
Briefly about the general area: Matheny Creek gets a large amount of water; the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain while August is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
For the period of the summer months highs here at Matheny Creek get into the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. Through the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Matheny Creek.
