The natural beauty of Washington and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Port Angeles, as you can see on the road map further down. The FR 21 Bridge to Q-1800 Bridge stretch of Matheny Creek in Washington is 4.2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting a good workout
and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better
not forget that rivers here are less forgiving. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the FR 21 Bridge to Q-1800 Bridge stretch is one of them. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The beautiful Olympic Mountains scenery is an added bonus.

sets in temperatures fall down into the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's while Matheny Creek overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 30's. Matheny Creek sees pretty high levels of rain; December is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is August.
