The milepost 8 to Yellowjacket Creek section of McCoy Creek is 7.8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because     these hotels fill up quick. The wild scenery of the Northern Cascade Range is great. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The natural beauty of Lewis County and the water flowing gracefully down McCoy Creek are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. McCoy Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the milepost 8 to Yellowjacket Creek section is the only one.
