The milepost 8 to Yellowjacket Creek stretch of McCoy Creek is 7.8 miles long and has been rated as a class V section by American Whitewater. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The river winds through the Northern Cascade Range and you get great scenery. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. Not too many hotels nearby,
you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. McCoy Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the milepost 8 to Yellowjacket Creek stretch is the only one. A good workout and just being out on the river for
a while are great attractions for lots of people. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The nature scenery of Washington and the playfulness of the water have people coming here.

The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at McCoy Creek. A good deal of rainfall falls at McCoy Creek; December is the month that gets the most rain, and July on the other hand is the driest.
