The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. If you're coming from Wenatchee it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The natural beauty of Okanogan County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. This is a pretty
decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there
are lots of good rivers for that around here. This section of Methow River is 9.5 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Carlton to McFarland Creek access section is one of them. The beautiful Northern Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus.
Briefly about the general area: The warmest time of the year at Methow River comes with high temperatures in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime
come with highs in the 20's while Methow River overnight low temperatures throughout the wintertime are in the 10's. Around Methow River you don’t get a lot of precipitation; the month with most of the snow is December, and July meanwhile is the driest month.
