The natural beauty of Washington and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The river winds through the Northern Cascade Range and you get great scenery. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. The campgrounds here at Mineral Creek are pretty good. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. You might have to settle for
a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the North Fork to Alder Lake stretch is one of them. If you've been whitewater
rafting and kayaking outside Washington you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. This section of Mineral Creek in Lewis County is 5.5 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater.
Briefly about the general area: A common amount of rain falls here at Mineral Creek; November is when you get the most rain here; July on the other hand is the driest. All through the summer months at Mineral Creek highs are frequently in the 70's. For the duration of the dark
hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. Through the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 40's while Mineral Creek night low temperatures all through the winter are in the 30's.
