This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Berne to Merritt section is one of them. The Northern Cascade Range scenery is wonderful. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here     you'll find a large number of good rivers. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The natural beauty of Washington and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Briefly about the general area: The high level of precipitation makes Nason Creek a quite wet site; the month with most of the snow is January, and the driest month is July. Summertime highs at Nason Creek mostly tend to be in the 60's, and all through the night it cools down to the 40's.
