The Mashel River to Mckenna stretch of Nisqually River is 14 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The river winds through the Northern Cascade Range and you get great scenery. The scenic beauty of Thurston County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. Whether you're whitewater rafting     or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Centralia, as you can see on the road map further down. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The campgrounds here at Nisqually River are pretty good. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camp stove. Briefly about the general area: Nisqually River sees pretty high levels of rainfall; December is when you get the most rain here, and July is when it's the driest. High temperatures at Nisqually River during the long   summer days are in the 70's. All through the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Nisqually River.
