The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The Mashel River to Mckenna stretch of Nisqually River is 14 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The river winds through the Northern Cascade Range and you get great scenery. The scenic beauty of Thurston County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. Whether you're whitewater rafting
or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Centralia, as you can see on the road map further down. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. This is one of a
small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The campgrounds here at Nisqually River are pretty good. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camp stove.
