CLASS II 14 miles
This stretch of Nisqually River is 14 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. If you're coming from Centralia it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often more challenging than in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. Since you're on this site you are
probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The beautiful Northern Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There are a few other stretches in this
river system that can be paddled as well. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. The wonderful Thurston County scenery and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
Briefly about the general area: Through the warmest time of the year here at Nisqually River, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into
the 50's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Nisqually River. Nisqually River sees pretty high levels of rainfall; December is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months is July.
