just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. The wild scenery of the Northern Cascade Range is great. The Clearwater Creek to Heisters Creek stretch is one of many paddling
stretches in this river system. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The put-in location is a short drive from Mount Vernon-Anacortes, as you can see on the road map further down. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
