If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Mount Vernon-Anacortes, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beautiful scenery of Whatcom County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far
and near. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Clearwater Creek to Heisters Creek section of Nooksack River - Middle Fork is 4.5 miles long
and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V section. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. The wild scenery of the Northern Cascade Range is great. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.

in the 70's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and overnight lows in the 30's for Nooksack River - Middle Fork.
