  This section of Nooksack River - Middle Fork in Whatcom County is 4.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V section of whitewater. The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The scenic beauty of Washington and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Great exercise and
    just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. The wild scenery of the Northern Cascade Range is great. The Clearwater Creek to Heisters Creek stretch is one of many paddling
stretches in this river system. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The put-in location is a short drive from Mount Vernon-Anacortes, as you can see on the road map further down. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
