  The put-in is not too far from Mount Vernon-Anacortes, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This stretch of Nooksack River - Middle Fork in Whatcom County is 4.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The river winds through the Northern Cascade Range
    and you get great scenery. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. The scenic beauty of Washington and the water flowing gracefully down Nooksack River - Middle Fork make the trip
here worthwhile. The Clearwater Creek to Heisters Creek stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington are harder than the national norm, so don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip.
