Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. The beautiful scenery of Washington and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. The Nooksack Falls to Douglas Fir Campground section of Nooksack River - North Fork in Washington is 4.9 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV+ section. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people.
The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds
nearby. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Mount Vernon-Anacortes, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beauty of the Northern Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip.
