The nature scenery of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Mount Vernon-Anacortes, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. Some people
prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd
better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The River Mile 25 to Saxon Road stretch of Nooksack River - South Fork in Whatcom/Skagit County is 12 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too.
