The beautiful scenery of Whatcom/Skagit County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking
in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end
up sleeping in your car. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camping stuff.
