  The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The wonderful Washington scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots.     River in Franklin/Whitman County is 4 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The Palouse Falls State Park
to Lyons Ferry State Park section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.

Not much rain falls here at Palouse River; most of the snow falls through December, and the driest month of the year is July. Put some time aside to spend at Palouse Falls while you're here at Palouse River.
