Washington whitewater - Panther Creek, Northern Cascade Range, Skamania County
Skamania
county,
to confluence with Lower Wind River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS IV+ 5 miles
The to confluence with Lower Wind River section of Panther Creek is 5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV+ section. The put-in location is a short drive from Hood River, as you can see on the road map further down. The river winds through the Northern Cascade Range and you get great scenery. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The natural beauty of Washington and
the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. There are no other sections to paddle along Panther Creek than the to confluence with Lower Wind River section. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip. Some people
prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more.
