CLASS IV+     5 miles
Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington tend to be more challenging than the national average, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The natural beauty of Washington and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The to confluence with Lower Wind River stretch of Panther Creek is
5 miles long and it is classified as a class IV+ section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Hood River, as you can see on the road map further down. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Panther Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections,
the to confluence with Lower Wind River section is the only one. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip.
