The beautiful scenery of Pierce County and the water flowing gracefully down Puyallup River make the trip here worthwhile. The starting location is a short drive from Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Puyallup River is 9 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV+ section. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Niesson Creek to Electron section is one of them. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often tougher than elsewhere, so don't
forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Cascade Range is a great experience. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with
mother nature are great reasons to come. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip.
