The starting location is a short drive from Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The beautiful scenery of Pierce County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. No shortage of good hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting
or kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so you'd better keep in mind that
