Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The scenic beauty of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. This section of Queets River in Washington is 9.3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be
a class II section. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. The put-in is not too far from Port Angeles, as you can see on the road map further down. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better
reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. The river winds through the Olympic Mountains and you get great scenery. The Queets Campground to Hartzell Launch section is the only paddling section along Queets River.
Briefly about the general area: Queets River is a wet place that gets a good deal of rainfall; through December this area sees the most rain while August is commonly the driest month. Through the days of summer highs here at Queets River reach the 70's while night
lows are frequently in the 40's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 40's with temperatures at Queets River dipping down into the 30's through winter nights.
