The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Port Angeles, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The natural beauty of Jefferson County and the cool fresh water have people coming here. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. The Queets Campground to Hartzell Launch stretch is the only paddling stretch along Queets River. This section of Queets River is 9.3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. There aren’t
any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. Whitewater paddling here in the Olympic Mountains is a great
experience. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
