CLASS IV-V     3 miles
This stretch of Quinault River in Jefferson County is 3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. The beautiful scenery of Jefferson County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. When you're paddling down a Olympic Mountains river like this one you always
get great scenery along the way too. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This is a short paddling stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. A bit of exercise and a chance to
spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Aberdeen, as you can see on the road map further down. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
