July isn't the driest month here. August and September are. Says Keith Olson
Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The starting location is a short drive from Aberdeen, as you can see on the road map further down. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The scenic beauty of Jefferson County and the
beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Cannings Creek to South Shore Road access section is one of them. The beauty of the Olympic Mountains is a
great plus for this river. The Cannings Creek to South Shore Road access stretch of Quinault River in Jefferson County is 6.5 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
