The to National Forest Nooksack section of Racehorse Creek in Whatcom County is 4.5 miles long and is a class V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The wonderful Washington scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Racehorse Creek make the trip here worthwhile. The starting point is not too far from Mount Vernon-Anacortes, as you can see on the road map further down. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby
campground. There are many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is the only paddling stretch along Racehorse Creek. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states,
so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The wild scenery of the Northern Cascade Range is great. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon.
