Washington whitewater - Rapid River, Northern Cascade Range, Snohomish County

Snohomish county, Road end to Beckler River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS IV     3.6 miles
If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The wonderful Snohomish County scenery and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. This stretch of Rapid River is 3.6 miles long and is a class IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. There are no other sections to paddle along Rapid River than the Road end to Beckler River section. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This is
a somewhat short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too.

Briefly about the general area:
Through the warm months here at Rapid River, high temperatures frequently get into the 70's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 50's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the

40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Rapid River. Lots of precipitation falls at Rapid River; November is the wettest month with most rain while July is regularly the driest month.
Take some time to pop by Skykomish Ranger District since you're here; what would winter be without some skiing at Stephens Pass. And that's not all there is to do here in the Northern Cascade Range.
