Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Ellensburg, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The nature scenery of Washington and the cool fresh water beats anything. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The beautiful Northern Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. Great exercise

there are campgrounds nearby. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
