Cascade Range scenery is wonderful. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. The campgrounds here at Rock Creek - Columbia River Tributary are pretty good. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip.
