Washington whitewater - Rock Creek - Lewis drainage, Northern Cascade Range, Clark County Clark county, Dole Valley Road to East Fork Lewis River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-III+     3 miles   The starting location is a reasonable drive from Portland-Vancouver-Beaverton, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This section of Rock Creek - Lewis drainage is 3 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III+ section by American Whitewater. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The beautiful scenery of Clark County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem     and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. The river winds through the Northern Cascade Range and you get great scenery. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Briefly about the general area: A lot of   rainfall falls at Rock Creek - Lewis drainage; December is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is July. For the period of the months of summer at Rock Creek - Lewis drainage temperatures are typically in the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Rock Creek - Lewis drainage dip into the 30's.
