The 500 Bridge to Queets Campground section of Sam's River in Jefferson County is 8 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. There are no other stretches to paddle along Sam's River than the 500 Bridge to Queets Campground
stretch. When you're paddling down a Olympic Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from
far and near. The put-in location is a short drive from Port Angeles, as you can see on the road map further down. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.

The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and night lows at Sam's River through the wintertime frequently plunge into the 30's.
