The put-in location is a short drive from Port Angeles, as you can see on the road map further down. The natural beauty of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so better not forget     that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There's camping available near Sam's River. The beautiful Olympic Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The 500 Bridge to Queets Campground section is the only paddling section along Sam's River. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Sam's River a wet spot; during the month of December you get the most rain around here while August is frequently the driest month. High temperatures at Sam's River through   the summer are in the 70's with night lows in the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's with temperatures at Sam's River dipping down into the 30's through winter nights.
