Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The nature scenery of Washington and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Highway 26 mile 2 to Columbia River section of Sand Hollow Creek is 1.5 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American
Whitewater. This is a short paddling stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The beauty of the Wenatchee Mountains is a great plus for this river. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. And of course,
there are campgrounds nearby. The Highway 26 mile 2 to Columbia River section is the only paddling section along Sand Hollow Creek.
Briefly about the general area: Not much rain falls here at Sand Hollow Creek; December is the wettest month with most snow, and July is the month with the least moisture. If you're here, you might as well check out Sand Hollow. High temperatures at Sand Hollow Creek through the warm days of summer are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are ordinarily in the 30's while Sand Hollow Creek night low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 20's.
