The nature scenery of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. The put-in location is a short drive from Shelton, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington are harder than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back
for more. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a
very popular destination. The river winds through the Olympic Mountains and you get great scenery. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Walter Creek to Baker Creek section is just one of many. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. This stretch of Satsop River - Middle Fork is 6.5 miles long and has been rated as a class III+(IV) section by American Whitewater.

the most rain here, and July is when it's the driest. Summertime highs at Satsop River - Middle Fork frequently tend to be in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. All through the wintertime the highs are commonly in the 40's with temperatures at Satsop River - Middle Fork dipping down into the 30's during winter nights.
