The Clear Creek to Darrington stretch of Sauk River in Snohomish County is 4 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The natural beauty of Washington and the water flowing gracefully down Sauk River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. A bit of exercise and just
being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater
rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. The river winds through the Northern Cascade Range and you get great scenery.
