CLASS II-III 4 miles
The Clear Creek to Darrington stretch of Sauk River in Snohomish County is 4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The beautiful scenery of Washington and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one
day trip. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem
but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Clear Creek to Darrington stretch is just one of them.
