Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington are harder than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. This section of Silver Creek is 1.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV-V section of whitewater. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. The campgrounds here at Silver Creek are pretty good. This stretch is short so no need to bring snacks. The beauty of the Northern Cascade Range is a great plus for this river.
Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. The wonderful Snohomish County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. The Quartz Creek to North Fork
Skykomish section is the only paddling section along Silver Creek. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
Briefly about the general area: At Silver Creek during the months of summer highs are in the 70's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 40's with temperatures at Silver Creek dipping down into the 20's during winter nights. Silver Creek sees pretty high levels of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is November; July is when it's the driest. A journey to Big Gulch is always fun.
