The wonderful Lewis County scenery and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are not
safe for beginners. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Cascade Range is a great experience. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. This is a pretty short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours
on the river in one stretch. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Johnson Creek to Craig Road stretch is the only paddling stretch along Skate Creek.
