The natural beauty of Mason County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This stretch of Skokomish River - North Fork in Mason County is 5.6 miles long and is a class V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This is one of a small number of
paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This section is long enough
to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. When you're paddling down a Olympic Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good places. If you're coming from Shelton it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page.
