The Browns Creek to Vance Creek section of Skokomish River - South Fork is 11 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Washington and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Washington you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and
the Browns Creek to Vance Creek section is one of them. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. No matter if you're whitewater
rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Shelton, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beautiful Olympic Mountains scenery is an added bonus. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
