Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. There's camping available near Skookum Creek. The sections for
whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often more challenging than in other states, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The Above lower gorge to South Fork of Nooksack section is the only paddling section along Skookum Creek. Getting some
good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. This section is very short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The beautiful Northern Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus.
